Taras Kutovyi: Ukraine is ready to become a food security guarantor to Iran

« Iran is one of the major Ukrainian trade partner in terms of procurement of agricultural products. For 3 months in 2016, Iran holds the 8-th place of TOP-10 countries on volumes of Ukrainian products export. Currently we are going to develop our cooperation to the higher qualitative level.

Ukraine is ready to increase the volume of food export to Iran and cooperate in sphere of agriculture, livestock and organic production. Taras Kutovyi, the Minister of Agrarian Policy and food of Ukraine, stressed during the meeting with delegation from the Islamic Republic of Iran headed by H.E. Mr Mohammad Mehdi Karbalaei, the Deputy Minister of Defence and Support for Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran, the General Director of “ETKA”.

Ukraine is ready to become a food security guarantor to Iran» – the Minister stressed.

Taras Kutovyi noted that in a framework of bilateral cooperation the attention must be given to increase the capacity of agricultural food production in Ukraine.

«We have two main directions for this: the privatization of state enterprises and stable partnership in the field of small farming development which must be motivated by investments » –Taras Kutovyi added.  The Minister underlined that this directions are connected with created strategy by the Ministry - the development of small and medium farms by the State support.

Mr Mohammad Mehdi Karbalaei stressed from his side that Iran sees a great potential in the development of bilateral cooperation with Ukraine in sphere of agriculture, farming and livestock breeding. Moreover, the Iranian side is ready to participate in the process of privatization the state enterprises and development of small farmers in Ukraine. Mr Mohammad Mehdi Karbalaei underlined that the Islamic Republic of Iran is ready to share its experience in the field of organic food production and reframe the trade export and import system between two countries to the higher quality level.
