"Ukrainian agrarian companies have a great opportunity to expand participation in tenders of WFP" - Ms. Dorte Ellehammer, WFP Representative in Ukraine has noted.

The United Nations World Food Programme is interested in expanding the participation of Ukrainian producers to ensure global food security. This was discussed at the meeting of Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Ms. Olena Kovaliova with representatives of the UN World Food Programme (WFP) in Ukraine.

"Ukrainian agrarian companies have a great opportunity to expand participation in tenders of WFP" - Ms. Dorte Ellehammer, WFP Representative in Ukraine has noted.

"With more than 14.5 bln USD export of agricultural products in 2015, the volume of sales of food under the UN humanitarian programs amounted to 55.6 million USD the lion's share, 48.2 million USD to the WFP. So, playing a leading position in the global food market, Ukrainian producers are not yet fully realized its potential in this direction", - Olena Kovaliova said.

"It is important to raise awareness of producers of Ukraine on participation in humanitarian programs. In view of the structure of the WFP procurements, the first step was the invitation for the WFP representative to take part at working group on the functioning of the grain market of Ukraine on December, where the WFP representative can share information on participation in the WFP tenders for food purchases "- the Deputy Minister noted.

Also it was discussed possible steps to initiate the participation of Ukrainian producers of other types of food, particularly baby food, in procurement programs of the World Food Programme.
