Direct dialogue with Japanese business - a key factor for success in the Japanese market - Olga Trofimtseva

During the meeting the parties discussed opportunities for trade, economic and investment cooperation between Japanese and Ukrainian companies. Also there was discussed the current preparation of Japanese Business Mission to Ukraine in March 2017.

Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Olga Trofimtseva and Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine - Ukraine Trade Representative Nataliya Mykolska held a meeting with Mr. Koji Yonetani, Executive Vice President of the Japan External Trade Organization "JETRO" on November 22 in Tokyo.

During the meeting the parties discussed opportunities for trade, economic and investment cooperation between Japanese and Ukrainian companies. Also there was discussed the current preparation of Japanese Business Mission to Ukraine in March 2017.

"Currently we see significant potential for increase in volumes of bilateral trade in agriculture, where are many niche markets for Ukrainian products in Japan and the interest of importers, as well as in investment cooperation between the two countries ", - Olga Trofimtseva said.

Ukrainian side separately accented additional advantages for Japanese companies on investments in Ukrainian agricultural sector, especially in such areas as farm machinery for small farmers, development of infrastructure and logistics, processing and equipment for veterinary laboratories.

The Japanese side confirmed that Ukrainian agricultural producers will have special (preferential) terms of participation in Foodex Japan 2017 under the JETRO platform.

According to Olga Trofimtseva,, it will enable our companies to present their products to potential Japanese customers directly and establish contacts with importers already in spring next year.
