Mykola Solskyi talks to Polish Agriculture Minister Robert Telus
The Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine and the World Food Programme continue to work on the implementation of the humanitarian program "Grain from Ukraine", which was launched on November 26, 2022 in accordance with the initiative of the President of Ukraine.
The ways of its implementation and further prospects of cooperation were discussed during the working meeting of the Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Mr. Mykola Solskyi with the delegation of the World Food Programme led by Mr. Matthew Hollingworth the Representative & Country Director, Ukraine at World Food Programme.
The parties discussed the process of the initiative implementation.
Mr. Mykola Solskyi reminded that three vessels with 80 thousand tons of wheat already left Ukrainian ports towards Ethiopia and Somalia within the framework of the initiative «Grain from Ukraine».
While discussing the current situation, Mr. Matthew Hollingworth said that the World Food Programme was organizing a tender for the procurement of 75 thousand tons of agricultural products in the framework of «Grain from Ukraine». The purchased grain will be sent to Ethiopia and Yemen.
Also during the meeting, the parties discussed step-by-step execution of «Grain from Ukraine» initiative.
In the end of the meeting the parties agreed to work out joint decisions and in the near future to discuss further practical steps for their implementation.
It should be reminded that this initiative has the aim to provide grain to the countries in Africa and Asia, which are on the edge of famine. The program is implemented in the partnership with the World Food Programme.
Its idea is the procurement by donor states of the agricultural products from Ukrainian producers and their transfer to the countries on the edge of famine.
