Ukraine and Belarus discussed a number of mutual trade issues

On March 25, a meeting of the working group on bilateral cooperation between the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection and the Department of Veterinary and Food Supervision of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Belarus on a number of issues of mutual trade was held.

The meeting took place in the framework of implementation of the provisions of the Action Plan the Roadmap of bilateral cooperation between the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection and the Department of Veterinary and Food Supervision of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Belarus for 2018-2020, signed on December 7, 2017.

From Ukraine, participating in the event were First Deputy Chairman of the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection Andrii Zhuk, Director of the Department for Food Safety and Veterinary Medicine of the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection Borys Kobal, Head of the Department for International Cooperation of the State Service Olha Shevchenko, and others.

The Republic of Belarus was represented at the meeting by Deputy Minister - Director of the Department of Veterinary and Food Supervision of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Belarus Ivan Smilgin, Head of the Belarusian State Veterinary Control at the State Border and Transport Dmytry Strapko and Advisor to the Embassy of the Republic of Belarus in Ukraine Oleksandr Havrysh.

Andriy Zhuk noted that domestic legislation is currently undergoing the process of adaptation to the norms of the European Union and has a number of changes in the section of export, import and transit of products of animal origin, but Ukraine is ready for dialogue targeting the solution of issues and remains open for cooperation with the Republic of Belarus.

During the meeting, the participants discussed the issues of approval of veterinary certificates for a number of products of animal origin, which are of interest for mutual trade between the parties, analyzed the prospects for trade in agricultural products.

The participants discussed the issues of mutual inclusion of enterprises in the registries of enterprises, which have the right to export products to Ukraine and the Republic of Belarus, respectively.

Moreover, the parties considered the approval of the transit of goods of animal origin through the territories of both states and the interaction between the Belarusian and Ukrainian state veterinary control services while crossing the state border and shipment.

The sides agreed to deepen and broaden cooperation in all the aforesaid areas.
