The increase in exports of Ukrainian processed and niche products - the task number one for the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine

This was stated by Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine on European Integration Ms. Olga Trofimtseva during the Panel Discussion "Strategies of promoting access to foreign markets for Ukrainian companies – food producers. Scenario of effective partnership with leading international companies", which was held at the XVI International Economic Forum in Lviv.

The domestic agricultural sector - a locomotive of the Ukrainian economy, the export of agricultural products now generates 40% of total exports. The development of Ukrainian export of niche and processed products with added value – is a priority for Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine in the framework of developed reform strategy "3 + 5".

This was stated by Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine on European Integration Ms. Olga Trofimtseva during the Panel Discussion "Strategies of promoting access to foreign markets for Ukrainian companies – food producers. Scenario of effective partnership with leading international companies", which was held at the XVI International Economic Forum in Lviv.

"Development of Ukrainian export of niche and processed products with value added - is the number one goal for our team. The main player in this production in Ukraine is the small and medium farmer. To increase the chances of conquering demanding international market, small and medium producers must unite in common clusters. Foreign sellers actively defend their positions on the international markets and see great competition in Ukrainian producers", - Deputy Minister said.

She added that the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine together with the MEDT (the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine) and business representatives are actively working on the development of mechanisms to diversify geographical markets for domestic products. "At the first consultation we worked out preliminary very interesting niches for export of agricultural products and related sectors. Ukrainian agricultural sector is not only agricultural products but also technology and IT», - Olga Trofimtseva added.

The Deputy Minister said that the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine helps Ukrainian business representatives by various tools - informational support on ways to export, logistics issues settlement, labeling, financing and coordinating with foreign business partners. "We are going toward to Ukrainian business, but we need to hear formulated active position from them. One of the options for dialogue I see in joint B2B events and trade missions "- the Deputy Minister commented.

Olga Trofimtseva said that the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine in cooperation with other government bodies helps to create more favorable conditions for Ukrainian producers to develop their export markets. And this is the reduction of regulatory barriers, Ukrainian exporters’ empowerment through the creation of new free trade areas.

"When we talk about diversification of markets, it is not only Europe but also countries of Africa, Asia and others. Our products will be in demand, as long as the Ukrainian producer is responsible regarding the quality of its products and supports its image as a reliable partner "- Olga Trofimtseva summarized.

 

During the Forum, Ukrainian businesses representatives thanked the Ministry Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine for the openness and active position in supporting Ukrainian producer.
