"Our team is open for active dialogue with Iranian partners to establish effective mechanisms that will promote the increase of bilateral trade-economic and investment cooperation. Both countries have a great potential for increasing the volumes of bilateral trade, which is used as for today, unfortunately, not fully", - said Deputy Minister.

Iran is one of major regional partners for Ukraine in the field of agriculture and processing industry. Both parties are interested not only in increasing the volume of bilateral trade, but also in the development of cooperation in many other important areas.

This was stated by Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine on European Integration Ms. Olga Trofimtseva during the meeting with Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran Mr. Ebrahim Rahimpur.

On his part, Mr. Ebrahim Rahimpur stressed that Iran already exports from Ukraine large amounts of grain, oilseeds and oils. He added that because of the large difference in climate, Iranian part is interested in exporting and importing kinds of seasonal products such as fresh vegetables, between the two countries.

"Iranian businessmen seeking to deepen cooperation with the Ukrainian part in various fields. They are interested in creating enterprises for cultivation of certain types of crops in order to export to Iran, and to expand cooperation in the field of seed production, animal husbandry, aquaculture. Also it is interesting within the bilateral cooperation to exchange experience in the scientific field, investments in technology and innovation in Ukraine", - said the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

At the end the parties agreed that, as a result of the last meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission, there will be renewed the activity of bilateral Working Group on Agriculture (the meeting is planned for early 2017). The main issues of the meeting of the Working Group will be cooperation in the field of veterinary and phytosanitary control, seed sector and intensification of business contacts between Ukrainian and Iranian companies in the agricultural sector.

Another effective way to promote cooperation in agriculture are bilateral working relations between specialized associations which, at the level of producers or production unions, can work out business contacts in specific business areas, organize, in collaboration with our Ministries, missions with the goal to the open markets and to initiate specific investment projects of interest for both of parties.

"I am confident that as the result of this meeting there will be finalized and signed the Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine and the Ministry of Agricultural Jihad of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
