The Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine and Vice President of the Valmont, Inc. Darren Siekman signed a Memorandum on Cooperation. Valmont, Inc. holds a pole position in production of irrigation equipment and has 75^th years history with capitalization of more than $5 milliard US dollars. Practically every second irrigation system in the world produced by Valmont, Inc.

Roman Leshchenko said “the company is aware of the success of land reform and the start of irrigation reform in Ukraine. Valmont, Inc. has ambitious plans regarding the establishment of their production facilities in our country, which envisages a high level of localization that is manufacturing and selling of the full cycle irrigation systems directly in Ukraine – from pumping stations to the latest generation sprinklers."

The Minister also added that in the nearest time the draft law “On the organization of water users and hydrotechnical melioration of lands” awaits to be adopted which would activate the development of irrigation and boost flow of investments in agrarian sector of the country`s economy. The strategic partner in this respect is International Financial Institution (IFC) with which in August this year, in Washington, the Minagropolicy signed several agreements on organizational support of the reforms and implementation of the accessible financial instruments for agrarian producers.

Roman Leshchenko says the Ministry continues its support of the successful program on 25% compensation for domestic producers of agricultural equipment and scales up the state program of melioration commissioning of the brand new meliorative lands when the irrigation infrastructure produced at Ukrainian factories.

The Minister summed up “the priorities for our team have always been and will be the same: attraction of largescale investment projects, provision of long-lasting cheap funding for agrarians and implementation of leading innovations of global companies in our country. The goal is to maximize the potential of the agricultural sector in the global market and accelerate the economic growth of the Ukrainian economy. We continue to work on its fulfillment.”
