During the Agro-2019, representatives of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine and European experts discussed the development of gastro-tourism in rural areas

On June 6, within the framework of the XXXI International Agro-Industrial Exhibition "Agro-2019", there was held a seminar "Gastro-tourism", attended by representatives of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, the EU project "Support for the development of the system of geographical indications in Ukraine", profile associations, scientific institutions.

"An important element of the development of rural areas are such as green and Enogastronomic Tourism. In particular, the popularization of gastro-tourism increases tourist flows in rural areas, fills local budgets, increases the demand for local products and contributes to improving the social infrastructure of villages", - Deputy Director of the Department for Farm Support, Co-operation and Rural Areas Development - the head of the Sector of farm support Sergiy Shupyk said.

Thus, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine has developed the Action Plan for the development of green and enogastronomic tourism in rural areas for the period to 2020, taking into account the proposals provided by the European Commission Project "Support for the development of the system of geographical indications in Ukraine".

In particular, this year, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, in cooperation with the EU project, launched an implementation system of wine and gastronomic routes, as forms of development of rural tourism and diversification of economic activity in rural areas in Odessa oblast that is defined as a pilot region.

According to Sergiy Shupyk, agricultural entrepreneurs can receive additional stable income through agro-tourism activities. In addition, the Government, specifically for farmers and cooperatives, provided an opportunity for them to receive an advisory service in the field of "development of rural green tourism", paying for it only 10 percent of the cost.

In addition, during the event, there were discussed issues such as diversification of rural development, European experience in the development of the Wine and Taste Routs, marketing tools for promotion of enogastronomic tourism, development of village hospitality, etc.
