Ukraine's agricultural sector is one of the most attractive for investments of US companies. This was discussed during the meeting of Ukrainian government delegation and Deputy Minister for European Integration of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Ms. Olga Trofimtseva with US-Ukraine Business Council in Washington during the official visit 3-7 October, 2016.
At the meeting there were representatives of the US agricultural companies that play a leading role in the market of our country, in particular, Cargill, Monsanto, AGCO, DuPont, Archer Daniels Midland, SigmaBleyzer and Bunge.
During a business lunch there were discussed practical issues of doing business in the agricultural sector of Ukraine, the overall investment climate. Also, there were discussed issues related to agricultural trade and interaction between the Government and business to attract foreign direct investment.
According to Olga Trofimtseva, main areas of direct investments, which Ukraine is interested in agriculture today are development of infrastructure, including logistics, new technologies of production and processing, logistics and the formation of regional clusters that could become important centers to develop a high-tech agriculture economy.
In addition, according to Deputy Minister, US companies are willing to work more actively with Ukraine in the framework of Public-Private Partnership in large-scale inter-sectoral projects. At the same time, companies also interested in "niche" opportunities in the agricultural sector, such as the cultivation of organic products.
Discussion with businesses also touched such important issues as functioning of land market in Ukraine, social responsibility of business and the development of rural areas.
Representatives of American companies expressed satisfaction with active dialogue of the Ministry with business in Ukraine. Also they indicated their willingness to continue to work actively in Ukraine and even expand investment portfolio in promising and interesting for them subsectors.
