The Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine hosted an event dedicated to the fifth presentation "Agriculture Portfolio - 2021". There were presented the achievements and capacity of the Ukrainian agriculture sector on the international level as well as updated data on the main export positions of the country`s agricultural production for the year of 2020.
First Deputy of the Minister Taras Vysotskyi noted that this event is extremely important for the agricultural sector of Ukraine.
He emphasized: “The National Economic Strategy until 2030 it underlines the role of agriculture in the economy of the country. Today, we are at the presentation of all national agricultural achievements, which subsequently will allow us to explore new markets and strengthen local producers”.
The head of the expert analytical group UBTA Oleksandra Avramenko presented the statistical data and main indicators on the export markets of agricultural products.
Ms Avramenko noted: “Agrarian export for the year of 2020 accounted for 45% of all exports of Ukraine which is an equivalent of $ 22 billion. National agrarian products are exported to 175 countries, and the main importer is the EU, which import of goods consists on about a third of Ukrainian-originated goods”.
Olga Shevchenko, deputy head of the State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection told about the features of the good image making for Ukraine at the international stage and importance of compliance of domestic products with world standards.
She said: “Sometimes, governmental agencies and our foreign partners communicate through the language of regulations. To overcome trade barriers which are in place today we need to have a solid interaction between businesses and state authorities and external market. It is necessary to understand regulations and legislation of other countries and duly implement procedures for safety control of the national products.”
Dmytro Ponomarenko's opinion on the strategic importance of the economic development for the country, particularly, strengthening Ukrainian exporters aroused great interest. Mr Ponomarenko is the Director of the Department for Economic Diplomacy of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.
He said: “Minister of Foreign Affairs stated three main priorities in his work, and namely export part in economic block is the main one. Currently, we have “relaunched” the Council of Exporters and Investors of Ukraine and actively work in foreign markets: conducting meetings with foreign partners, online-briefings, looking for points of entry to the new markets etc. Concerning agricultural sector, we work with UBTA and this meeting is an example of such work”.
Nazar Bobytskyi, the director of the UBTA office in Brussels share his proud for the coordinated work of the analytics of the Association, business, and government officials, who made a product which displays high results of the Ukrainian agriculture sector: “For the last few years in a row the Ukrainian producers continue to set new records and we see the real successes in the agricultural complex. “Agriculture portfolio” is a solid communicating project which allows for building perception of Ukraine in the world as a reliable partner with whom we can and should do business.”
Summing up the presentation, Taras Vysotskyi expressed confidence that Ukraine is a genuinely reliable partner on the international market, which is confirmed by the "Agriculture Portfolio”.
The Ukrainian Association of Business and Trade (UBTA) acts as a promoter of domestic export-oriented business and actively works to establish the knowledge and image of Ukraine as a confident producer and exporter of agricultural products. Ukraine is already a powerful player in the international market, which is constantly improving product quality and expanding its range by introducing innovative solutions and new business models, creating value chains.
“Agriculture Portfolio – 2021” is implemented on the initiative of the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine together with the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine and with the active support of UBTA.
