During the 5.5 months of Russia's war against Ukraine, almost 10 million tons of 8 agricultural commodities and processing products were exported. During the first two weeks of August, Ukraine exported around 2 m tons of grains, while during July exports were 3 m tons. During the first 2 weeks of August, the corn and wheat exports were the largest since February, 776,000 and 339,000 tons respectively.
Before the unblocking of the Odesa ports, as of August 1, 2022, almost 8 m tons of agricultural products were shipped. Meanwhile, during the same period of the last year (March-July) the exports figures were twice as large - 19.5 m tons. Corn export was the largest in terms of its share, 3.8 m tons since the RF`s invasion of Ukraine. During the same period of 2021, corn export was also the largest among other agricultural commodities and processing products - 10 million tons, which is 37% more than in 2022. The top-2 export position was sunflower seeds - 1.4 million tons. It is 34 times larger than in 2021. However, the sunflower oil export was 48% less than during the respective period in the last year - 935.7 k tons. 636.1 thousand tons of wheat were shipped in five months. This is only 16% of last year's volume, which was 3.8 million tons. The similar trend is observed in barley exports, for 5 months of 2022, 239.1k tons were shipped, which is 17% of last year's export.However, the export of soybeans this year exceeds the last year figures: 372.7 k tons in 2022 vs 301 k tons during the 5 month last year. Soybean oil export was 77.7 k tons which is 20% less than during the respective period in the last year. Exports of oil-cake was around 403,000 tons, which is 22% of last year's shipments.
The exports dynamics increased dramatically, from 331 k tons in March to 3 m tons in July, or by 89%. The share of commodities in exports structure generally follows the last year trends: 48.9% of corn, 17.25% - sunflower seeds, 11.89% - sunflower oil, 8.08% - wheat, 5.13% - meal, soybeans - 4, 73%, barley - 3.04%, soybean oil - 0.99%.
The transportation share breakdown was changed significantly due to sea-ports blockade by russia: 3.5 million tons of agricultural products were exported through ports, 3.1 million tons by rail, 1.1 million tons by vehicles, and 95.5 thousand tons by ferry.
