As of June 12, harvesting works of early grain and legume crops began in certain areas of the southern regions of Ukraine. The first 14,7 thousand tons of grain from 5,1 thousand hectares with the average yield of 29,1 centner / hectare were harvested.
"The beginning of harvest this year is earlier than the average in recent years, but as it is known, this season was rather non-typical from the beginning. Relevant yield forecasts will not be available yet, however, based on the current state of crops and close to the ideal winter crop over winter, we keep the forecast of harvest in the format of "60 million tons +", - said the first Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Maxim Martynyuk on your Facebook page.
So, the harvest season has started in the Mykolayiv, Odessa and Kherson regions, where harvesting of winter barley and peas began. In the Kherson region, 6.3 thousand tons of barley were harvested from 2.3 thousand hectares, in Odesa - 3.8 thousand tons from one thousand hectares and in Mykolayiv - 4.6 thousand tons from 1.8 thousand hectares.
Also, in the Mykolayiv oblast, the first 300 tons of peas with an area of 100 hectares were drilled.
In total, early grain and leguminous crops in 2018 are planned to collect from 9.6 million hectares.
