STRATEGY FOR AGRICULTURE AND RURAL DEVELOPMENT 2015 – 2020

STRATEGY AND ACTION PLAN

The Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food has prepared a draft of a single and comprehensive STRATEGY FOR AGRICULTURE AND RURAL DEVELOPMENT 2015-2020 that addresses the real needs of the sector following an inclusive consultation process with stakeholders including civil society, business and international donors.

The Strategy was supported by the National Reforms Council at the meeting on 9 November 2015.

STRATEGIC PRIORITIES AND MEASURES

The overall objective is to increase agricultural competitiveness and promote rural development in a sustainable manner in line with EU and international standards.

The Strategy covers 10 strategic areasto provide an integrated, inclusive, equitable and realistic strategic vision and policy framework for reform in the agriculture sector.

MEASURES UNDER IMPLEMENTATION

Alongside the development of the Strategy and Action Plan there were identified and updated so-called 'quick wins' – legal drafts related to fighting corruption and reducing red tape in the sector for achieving immediate results.

For further Strategy implementation there are being developed concrete priority actions, including pilot projects.

MONITORING AND ANALYSIS

Ensuring efficient and transparent Strategy implementation will require regular independent monitoring of actions under implementation within the strategic areas.
